I am now taking Medicare and am certified Medicare provider (by the US Federal government, SSA). Medicare does cover mental health counseling sessions, and generally you will be responsible for a 20% co-insurance per session (usually not more than $20).
If you are considering counseling and aren’t sure which Medicare you have, look at your card to see what it says. If there is a third party insurance company listed (such as Cigna, Aetna, etc)-you need to find an alternate provider in that insurance provider panel if you want your insurance company to cover. I am not a provider for third party Medicare policies.
