Faith and spirituality are an integral part for some people’s lives. Faith based counseling can be an important element for those who have issues of a spiritual nature.
As clients consider counseling, there are times when they have faith questions and want to work through their questions about God or the meaning of life, as well as feelings of anger or disappointment towards God/Creator/their Higher Power. During seasons of change and transition, sometimes the bigger spiritual questions rise up and need to be addressed.
As a faith based counseling practitioner, I want to create a safe space for clients to explore and sort through their beliefs if they are desiring to do so. I support people of many faith backgrounds—what is important to me is that each person is true to themselves in their authentic journey. I see people with backgrounds in traditional organized religion as well as those who don’t conform to that, have left their childhood faith or want to seek what is true for them in their faith journey. My faith based counseling services include:
- Christian counseling services
- Biblical marriage counseling
- Premarital counseling
- Christian family counseling
- Family life counseling
- Grief counseling
- Exploring spirituality
- Recovery from damaging or harsh religious background or experiences
For those who don’t desire to discuss this part of their life, or if faith based isn’t something bringing them to counseling, I respect that. I do not bring it up, push it on anyone nor need for this to be a key issue addressed. The majority of my clients do not wish to address this topic in counseling. For those who do, you can let me know faith based counseling is an important topic you want to discuss.
I am a part of the Willow Creek Counselor Referral Network (CRN), for those who have been referred by Willow Creek or find themselves with a similar faith background.
