Individual Counseling

Individual Therapy

Individual counseling, known also as psychotherapy or individual therapy, provides an opportunity for personal work on obstacles, longstanding problems, unresolved past issues and frustrating behaviors/patterns that you can’t seem to stop. We will identify the issues you want to address, then I will write out a list of treatment goals and tools to accomplish those changes. As we meet, we will work as a team to address your concerns so that you can work on change and move towards feeling more whole. That can include addressing relationship concerns, boundaries, toxic people, past issues, crisis and trauma, loss, pain, and defeating behavior.

Individual Therapy issues can include:

  • Adults
  • Young adults
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD) counseling for individuals
  • Christian counseling (if requested)
  • Chronic pain
  • Crisis counseling
  • Decision making
  • Depression counseling
  • Faith based/spiritual exploration (if requested)
  • Family conflict counseling and divorce navigation
  • Food issues (over eating, emotional eating, binge eating)
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • Life changes and transitions
  • Parenting
  • Relationships and managing conflict
  • Self-esteem and healthy boundaries
  • Toxic relationships
  • Trauma

Some of the tools used for individual counseling sessions include:

Insight oriented therapy (gaining an understanding of patterns)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-identifying thoughts and behaviors that are blocking desired behavior and life style

Internal Family Systems (identifying your “parts” to gain internal harmony)

Body/mind therapies, such as EMDR, Brainspotting, EFT tapping and Bi lateral stimulation (“every other”)

Setting boundaries and communication skills, such as assertiveness

**Please note that Sheri is doing ONLY individual therapy, not couples/marital or family counseling.
